Is there any way to make the Google Calendar show up in Gmail? I'd
like to see a "today's appointments" kind of feature when I open
Gmail. I've looked through Settings for both Gmail and Calendar and
don't really see that option. Anyone know if this is possible?

it tells you all about it. Unfortunately, they didn't include the link
that you go to to actually install it. As just another calendar user,
not a google lab person, I have no clue how to go about finding this
email add in thing.

Open Gmail
Click Settings
Click Labs
Scroll down until you see this:
Google Calendar gadget
by Ben K and Garry B
Adds a box in the left column which shows your Google Calendar. See
upcoming events, locations, and details.
Click the Enable radio button. Then scroll to the end and click 'Save
changes'.

ShellyR is right.
I couldn't see a LABS option either
I read about the adding the CALENDAR to my gmail today
but until now haven't figured out how to do it
HELP :))
and one other thing - I'd love it if the signature in my GMAIL will be
HTML and not simple text so I can add color, different fonts and tiny
logos

If you are using Google Apps, it may not be implemented yet.
If you are using iGoogle home page, you need to be using Full Gmail.
In Gmail's Inbox in your browser, if you see "Newer version" in the
upper-right corner click it. You will also (probably) need to be in
Standard view vs HTML view.
