I would rather suggest to pre-pay the principal. I did this since my FDs are
earning (9%) less than my home loan (11:50 %).

Hi Maulik.
Your first point is logical, but it is not wise to pay more interest for
technically around 1-2 years also.
- Looking at the calculations subbu presented even if the load amount
varies and interest rates diff becomes negligible in near future (1-2) years
you still manage to save some money.

OPEC has already said yesterday that if oil goe to us$100 per barrel they
will cut oil production.So oil at 100 US$ is a strong possibility in the
near future.

I can feel the pinch in my monthly budget right from groceries to
vegetables(most of them are Rs. 20+/kg). :( I wish by this time next
year we have relatively less inflation atleast due to base effect.

What will be tax implications ? (tax rate for short term say 9 months & long
