We had some queries about the ride that we answered in the website.
Copy of the FAQ.
------------------------------------------------
1. What is the Route ?
We will be cycling from Sakleshpur up to Madikeri. Adequate
arrangement to transport people and their bikes to Sakleshpur has
already been taken care of.
The ride starts early Saturday morning, 28th Nov 2009.
2. What is the plan? where do we stay ?
Nov 27 (Friday) : Start from Bangalore (around 10.30 p.m), overnight
bus
journey to Sakleshpur.
Nov 28 (Saturday): Land at Sakleshpur - have breakfast, freshen up
start the ride around 7.00 a.m. - Reach Somwarpet by afternoon and
stay overnight.
Nov 29 (Sunday): Start from Somwarpet after breakfast - proceed
towards Madikeri and then towards Suntikoppa. Assemble at Suntikoppa
and depart for Bangalore by 2.00 p.m.
3. How do I carry my cycle ?
We will carry it for you. We will ensure that your cycle is Boxed and
transported to Sakleshpur along with you. All you need to do is bring
your cycle to the boarding point at Bangalore, before we depart to
Sakleshpur and take it back home after we reach Bangalore.
4. Will my cycle by safely transported ?
Yes, we shall take all measures to box your bike and transport it in
proper shape.
5. Is this a ride only for expert cyclists?
The route has been tailored to facilitate participation for cyclists
of all levels of experience. An alternate route has been planned on
day 2 for people who want to take it easy and not climb Madikeri. The
finer details will be published in due course of time.
6. What kind of cycle can I get?
Any cycle you are comfortable with! or ... The one you have been
using! FYI ... this route has been covered once on a Hero-Swing and
the next on a Hero-Hawk. Both times reaching Madikeri in a single day!
Any kind of bike would be fine, but a bike with multiple gears would
be a fantastic option.
7. What about practice for the ride?
The ride has been announced well in advance (a month) to address this
concern. We highly recommend and suggest you go for a regular 30-40
kms weekend rides apart from your daily dose of 10-15 km pedaling.
8. What if I want cannot ride the complete distance?
We will have a support vehicle trailing the riders for this purpose.
If at any point in time anybody is unable to continue on the bicycle,
the rider can get in to the vehicle and hitch a ride. But, all said
and done, we do not encourage this.
9. I do not have a bike, can I rent one from CyclingAndMore??
At present we do not have any renting facilities but can assist
interested people in getting a bike on rent.
10. What facilities are offered for the amount I pay?
CAM will provide:
- Transportation for riders and bicycles from Bangalore to Sakleshpur
and
Madikeri to Bangalore.
- Vegetarian Food (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner on 28th Nov, and Breakfast
and
Lunch on 29th Nov).
- Accommodation on 28 Nov near Soomwarpet.
- Support vehicle.

We are pleased to say that we have got an overwhelming response for
the ride from sakleshpur-madikeri.
More than 45 cyclists registered, but sad to say that only 30 can join
the ride.
We have quite a number of BBC members in the ride (including me)
Thanks to BBC for the support
