We Also need to know how many on the "blue mountains ride" actually know how
to
fix bicycles in case it is needed during the trip.

And regarding the split up of activities,
why don't we meet at a common place this weekend to discuss the same?

900 km * (9 Rs/km) + 9 days * 250 Rs bata./day = Rs 10,350

Wildcraft Sadashivanagar can arrange for two tents.
Each tent can accommodate 3 people or 4 (slim) people at best.

Each tent requires a refundable deposit of Rs 4000
Hiring cost of single tent per day = Rs 250

Total = 9 days * 250 = Rs 2250 + (4000 refundable deposit)

We need to book at least 3 days in advance.

Thanks Sharath for your quick and helpful contribution!!!..

Please note that "250 km at 9 rs/km + 250rs as Bata is minimum distance and
rate for tempo traveller". They are not charging based on total distance,
but minimum distance per day. Thats (250kms * 9rs/km * 9days ) + (250rs bata
* 9)= 22500 rs.

Thanks for the tent part though. :) . Can you enquire whether upto 5 tents
can be arranged for and how many days in advance we may need to book for the
tent, coz december is going to be rush season for trekkers and travelers...
Plus if can find some other sources for tents, that would be really helpful
:-)

Cheers!!!

From what I could gather over the phone, it looked like each Wildcraft
outlet has a few tents which they rent out. It looked unlikely that
they had information about availability at other outlets. nevertheless
will check if 5 tents can be got.

Hello,

Thanks for the suggestion, Sudhir.

I did check out the decathlon.in website. The prices go as follows:

1. 2 person tent 1899 Rs
http://www.decathlon.in/Hiking-Tents-T2-(BLUE)-p-224.html?osCsid=fllk...

Cost per head: Rs 1899/3 = Rs 950

2.3 person tent Rs 3999
http://www.decathlon.in/Hiking-Tents-2-SECONDS-XL-III-p-247.html?osCs...

Cost per head = Rs 1333

3. 4 person tent Rs 4899/ Rs 4999
http://www.decathlon.in/Hiking-Tents-AT4-XL-p-24.html?osCsid=fllkfvgt...

Cost per head = Rs 1250

Cost (of hiring) per head of Wildcraft tent for 9 days = Rs 2250/4 = Rs 563

Summary:
It turns out that the Wildcraft tents are cheaper to hire.

I have another suggestion: If some one in this Blue Mountains Range (BMR)
group is considering buying tents, then he/she can buy the tent (2
person/3person/4 person), anything is fine..and then collect Rs 550 for each
person that they can accommodate, to get dual benefit:
- the individual cost per head works out to be the same as WIldcraft
- As a person can buy a tent at reduced rate

I request everyone else to pitch-in any suggestions.

Hello All,

Got a response from BMC saying that 5 tents can be provided. Rate is
fixed at Rs 200 per day.

The better news is since SreeHarsha has agreed to kindly provide at
least 3 tents that can accommodate 12 people.

Therefore, we just need to find tents for 8 more people (assuming a
target group of 20). Keep the search alive!.
