Was patiently waiting for hybrids for over a month now. Had checked out options of adding semi slicks to a MTB, Canondale Quick 5, Canondale F8, Kona Dew, etc. Trek 7100 was to arrive in December and I couldn't wait any longer. Fortunately for me Rohan told that 7100s are arriving and now...
I loved Kona a good deal - wonder how the dew has still not been taken (or has it been! :)) My budget was 25K and I found all the bikes wonderful. I loved Kona over Canondale Quick 5 - former had Deore RD and disc brakes - both without suspension. Unfortunately, the kona frame was a little small. I liked the look of Quick 5, feel of Kona n settled for the 7100 as it was most suitable for my riding.
Wow.. congrats..
If i remember correctly, Sharath (BIB # 50) has the same and had come to
BBCh7 with it.
He has fixed fenders on both front and back.
Rgds,
Nalla.

Congrats! Mayank
While you were picking up your 7100 at BOTS, I had a ride on
it....remember we met :)
Fabulous and super comfort ride. I have already recommended it to a
couple of guys here.

I have fixed the rear fender one that fixes to the ends of the brake so that it doesn't eat up the space on the saddle post. The wheel is 29" so not sure how effective it is gonna be. I m going to take it off as soon as the intermittent showers stop now... Might take a front wheel fender like the one Rakesh has on his F8. I m hoping these help as my bike got most dirty with the muck in rains! :(

You were to pick some bike also - which one did u pick finally? Who picked the Kona? :))
As for the Trek 7100 - I am loving every bit of it. Everyone who has looked at it found it rather good looking esp the color. I like the semi slicks as compared to Quick 5 and noticed the shocks at work on most roads even with a good pressure in the tires.
I already had a fall in the basement with a little water! :) I also was shook terribly when passed alongside a pile of sand. The covers of sewage with bars are scary also as compared to the MTB tires I m used to. I am not able to do the bunny hops as easily as my Merida - mebbe I need to get better control on it. I am used to a lower handle bar - will adjust the bar (nice thing about 7100) if I don't get used to it. I m loving it so far - will take to work tomorrow - will time myself - getting a cyclocomp fitted coming weekend.
It must be 27" not 29" if i know it right... Just see if ur rim (or tyre)
says 700 x 'something' .... The good news is, u can put roadbike tires on em
if u want to do long road rides

Oops - my mistake - someone mentioned 29 and it did look much bigger than 26. I will check it. 700 wud be mm I think. Why do they mix units? Found this article -

The fenders that I have for my Trek 7100 are ones that I got from
trek. They are similar in shape to the "uncle-cycle" fenders, and are
therefore very effective. They are made of good-quality plastic, so it
is light and also looks cute.
