I have been cycling for more than a year on ORR (Marthalli-Sarjapur
stretch).  Not a single mishap yet (touch wood :) )
Please stick to the extreme left and be aware of the surroundings. There are
times when truck or buses come close even on the leftmost lane.
During night, be extra careful. Make yourself visible by wearing lighter
shade of dress. Also use headlight and taillights.

I hate service lane as there are lots of speed breakers and also due to road
condition.

Ride safely, Enjoy.
Rgds,
Nalla.

Did not see many replies though there are many expert ORR riders...

To add to Nalla's list:
  - Beware of the BMTC Volvos that stop everywhere - especially keep
an eye out because, very often, the Volvos cut to the left most lane,
squeezing us.
  - Be aware of the peds who cross the road at arbit points and are
not visible because of the small trees.
  - Avoid peak hours when the drivers and mobike riders have less
patience

Regards,

Luckose.

Guys,
If any of you are commuting from ORR (*from around ecospace, intel,
belnadur*) to anywhere in Indiranagar, JB nagar, Domulur, one good
option is to use the Belandur lakeside road. They have recently tarred
up (fresh 3.4 inch tar) the strech and the drive is amazing, no speed
bakers on this road yet (so good for bikers but be careful)

The route
ORR (Intel signal) -> Mantri Espania -> Belandur lake road -> Yamalur -

> CABS -> Chellaghatta -> Wind tunnel Road -> Airporrt road

It take me around 30 minutes to commute (from Kodiahalli) to Ecospace

Cheers,
Swami

Swami ,
Thanks for the update . I was biking on this road a week back and was
dissapointed to see that no work was going on. Great to hear that all
of a sudden that the road work was taken up and finished in such a
short duration .

Cheers,
Ravi

Hey Vinodh,

I cycle almost every morning on the ORR stretch between K R Puram and
Kalyan Nagar / Hennur Cross. Trucks / tempos, Sumo and Indica cab
services are the most dominant vehicles in number on the road and
frankly the cabbies are a lil careless. I generally keep left the
whole time and slow down when crossing signals. One small piece of
advice, do not take U-Turns on the highway and I mean never! If you
want to turn back after a certain stretch take the service road and
join one of the perpendicular main roads to come back on the ORR.

Although the service lanes have been relaid just few months ago so
even taking those is a good option.

Enjoy the rides! :)

Rode on ORR on Sat mrng. enjoyed the ride.. One minor thing thou.. I kept
looking over my right shoulder for traffic and felt pain in my neck later.

Does a rear-view mirror help? Do you guys use one?

Hi Vinodh ,

I would suggest you to look back only before you move to your right . If you
find it necessary to move towards your right , then look back to check out
if you would come in the way of any speedin vehicle . If not change your
line of path . Other than that you need NOT  keep looking back . Just stick
to the left side of the rode and keep riding .Most of the times i find it
pretty free for riding .
