Subject: I've lost my edit HTML box in layout
I've gone through everything I can find to recover this. I think is
disappeared when I updated the template to the new style. I use
Firefox. I used to have a widget for Sitemeter and various other bits
and bobs but the rectangular box in the layout tab has just
disappeared. Any ideas on how to get it back?

I am not clear on which 'rectangular box' has gone missing.  Could you
describe it?

From the page source, it appears you have the 'classic' Blogger
template:  Correct?

Yes I think it is the classic template now, because I tried returning
to it when I discovered I had the problem. It used to be in the layout
tab on the right hand side, where the rectangle for my blogs is. I
used to be able to click on a rectangle which allowed me to add things
like the sitemeter logo (which has since disappeared).

Okay, so the problem is not a missing 'Edit HTML' tab as the title of
this posts suggests.  It is the 'Add Gadget' box that is missing.
Correct?  Do you have such a box anywhere on your template (you must
upgrade to the 'Layouts' template to see it)?

I have add gadget boxes, and I have tried to paste the sitemeter code
into them but they refuse to accept it. I have an Edit HTML tab, but
I'm sure I used to have a rectangular box which said HTML. I had 4
boxes down the right hand side, now I only have 3.

I've just been into sitemeter again and they say I should try using
the Java code on the 'add a page element' box but I cant find that.
And I've upgraded to the new blogger too but that hasn't helped. I'm
stumped!

Add page element is the same as add gadget.  Choose whichever presents
itself and select html/javascript from the popup.
