If people want lots of readers to their blogs, a good reputation from
the search engines is a good thing. Larger blogs, with more content,
tend to get better reputation. Here are two ways of making your blog
larger to the search engines:
1) Post more content.
2) Make it look like you post more content.
Search engines are setup to prevent people from intentionally using
tactic #2, by checking for duplicated content.
When Layouts blogs, with labels, first came out, many blogs were
observed to lose search reputation as they increased in use of
labels. This was determined to be related to duplicate content
penalties. Blogger then added the label search restriction, to
prevent this from happening.
If the search engines index your blog from a properly constructed
sitemap, that's all that they need. They don't need to index your
blog from label searches too.
