Blogging in general, and Blogger blogging in particular, are immensely complex subjects, and involve many areas of computer expertise and some areas of non-computer expertise. Not one single helper, in any forum, will ever be expected to know everything about blogging, nor should any helper even try to know everything. And there's always knowledge to be shared, when you have new knowledge please share it. But, there are ways to share the knowledge properly. and other ways to not share the knowledge. Let's look at a few, to start. Write answers to help, and prepare to follow up and respond to any
questions that the Original Posters may ask of you, in response to your
answers. Don't just post, and move on to the next thread. Allow time
to follow up your answers. Answer current questions promptly. That encourages other helpers to answer questions promptly, which encourages the people with questions to check back more frequently for answers, and to ask their follow up questions more promptly. This increases forum activity, which is good for everybody. Prepare to participate. Don't scan the forum, find half a dozen
questions being asked a lot, setup a web page with your answers, then
come back and post links to your web page everywhere. Answer the
questions asked, and spend time writing your answers. Don't make post
floods, and don't dig up stale threads. Don't babble. Although the helpers don't know the answer to every
question, most helpers will have some idea if you know what you're
writing about. If you just pull answers out of a hat, expect to get
called on that. Don't make up answers, and try to get away with it.
Babble + Links = Spam. Don't post spam.
Read current threads, and acquaint yourself with the current levels
of knowledge. Do some research, and find out the answers to questions
being asked, that aren't being answered. Don't go digging through old
threads, and simply post your advice in every old thread that may
remotely relate to your area of expertise. If you don't find enough
current threads which focus on what you know, spend some time and
research what you don't know.
