This is just my opinion, but it sounds like you're overtraining your
calves. I usually do 3 sets of 8 after I complete my squats, once a
week.

When I do 3 sets of 8, I'm using 80% of my max. The goal is that on my
3rd set, I can't quite complete the last rep, and once I can do it 9
times on the last set then I know it's time to increase the weight
(which is usually every 3-4 weeks). I'm currently calf-pressing 455lbs.
