Isolation first, or compound?

I read once that doing some isolation lifts followed by compound lifts were the best way to totally trash a muscle group. I've also read the opposite. Opinions? I've considered working biceps and triceps first, followed by compound upper body work.

After years of careful research I came to the conclusion that the best possible training program is only slighly better than the worst possible training program. (assuming you don't do something really stupid that would make you a cripple, like Arnold-pressing a pair of kettlebells)
