DRIVE, HE SAID is one of the funniest movies from that time. The reason I sometimes don't like these box sets is that you may not be able to buy just a single film from the set. For example, I was never able to find just a single film -- TEAHOUSE -- from last year's Brando box set, & I didn't want to own the other films.
____ On the question of playing continuo during a Mozart concerto, I can only reaffirm my belief that it is perfectly fine as long as it is inaudible.
Have you read Bruce Dern's fairly recent autobiography? Aside from its immense readability and (sometimes gauche) fun, it's really something to read before seeing DRIVE, HE SAID or KING OF MARVIN GARDENS again. Do yourself a favor.

Thanks Jim. I have seen "King", but never "Drive". I know its rep (and that of A Safe Place), but I don't care.
Maybe I'll get the Dern book and the Altman book at the same time.
Had to wonder for a moment what is the common denominator for these movies. I think 3 has Jack Nicholson etc... Five Easy Pieces and King of Marvin Gardens are sort of character studies, in both Nicholson trying to define his place in the world. I wouldn't say they are great movies...but definitely worth watching. But then I see there's a movie about The Monkees...so there goes my theory out of the window.
I guess Easy Rider at last gives it away...it's all? about the time then...Late 60's, Early 70's. A strange idea though, to sell all in one box.
