I think the tide here has pretty much turned against him. Everyone says the Packers are in a tough spot here, but I don't think they really are. My guess is that they will trade him if he decides to come back, with some sort of heinous provision that would prevent a trade to another NFC North team.
My guess now is that he remains retired actually. That he really wanted to go to the Vikings, which the Packers will never allow, and that he really doesn't want to play for a team like Tampa.
BTW, this line MML :"In fairness to Favre, it should be mentioned that any phone calls he made to the Vikings were made in a gunslinging fashion, and through the entire conversation, he looked like a kid out there, just having fun."

eh.....tampa has much better weather(especially during football season), had a better record last year, doesn't play in a wretched dome, etc......it's not like tampa is the one of the crappier destinations in the league and it's not like minnesota is on everyone's "hot" list.
either way, I just dont care about the favre story.

If he wanted to play for Tampa, this deal would have been done already - and it still might be done. Tampa has the cap room and needs an upgrade at QB. He clearly wanted to go to Minnesota. That's very obvious. If the Packers gave him an outright release, he'd be there within 48 hours.
I don't think he gives two shits about the weather during football season.

perhaps....I was just wondering what you were getting at with "a team like tampa"......

one wonders why he doesn't give a crap about minnesota's godawful pass defense though. There is this myth in football(college and pro) that if you can "stop the run and run the ball" you'll be good. Minnesota the last two years has been good to fabulous at both, and they haven't been very good, so hopefully that will get some people to realize how wrong that cliche is.
If I were favre, I'd much rather go to tampa than minnesota. I think they have a better chance to win their division than the vikings do.

do you find that Tampa fans are better dressed? Maybe he doesn't feel comfortable playing in front of a black-tie and gown crowd?
Favurah really *wants* to stay retired, but by pretending not to and calling the Vikes, he has with one fell stroke sunk one of the beloved Packers divisional rivals for quite some time!

"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours." (General Sir Charles Napier)

And if any of this had mattered to Farve, he would have been calling Tampa instead of Minnesota.
Do you have a fucking point?
